Job Title: ESG Data Analyst Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Hybrid/On-site options available) Employment Type: 1-Year Fixed Term Contract (Convertible to Permanent) Department: Sustainability & Corporate Governance Reporting To: Head of Sustainability
About the Role
We are currently seeking a highly analytical and process-driven ESG Data Analyst to join our growing team in Kuala Lumpur. As the corporate landscape in Malaysia shifts toward greater accountability, our organization is committed to setting the standard for sustainable business practices.
This is not just a data entry role; it is a strategic position central to our company’s long-term vision. You will be the primary custodian of our non-financial data, bridging the gap between raw operational metrics and high-level strategic decision-making.
Note on Contract Structure: This position begins as a 12-month fixed-term contract. However, this role is viewed as a long-term investment for our company. Subject to a performance review at the 10-month mark—and contingent upon the successful delivery of our annual sustainability reporting cycle—it is our explicit intention to convert this role into a permanent full-time position. This structure allows both the company and the candidate to ensure a perfect fit before a long-term commitment.
Key Responsibilities
As our ESG Data Analyst, your daily work will directly influence how we present our sustainability achievements to investors, regulators, and the public.
1. Data Collection & Integrity
-
Lead the aggregation of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data from multiple business units across Malaysia.
-
Manage complex datasets including Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions, energy consumption, water usage, waste management, and supply chain logistics.
-
Validate data accuracy by cross-referencing with utility bills, invoices, and operational logs to ensure audit-readiness.
2. Reporting & Compliance (Bursa Malaysia & Global Standards)
-
Ensure all data collection aligns with Bursa Malaysia’s Sustainability Reporting Guide and the latest global frameworks, specifically the GRI Standards (Global Reporting Initiative).
-
Assist in the drafting and data visualization for the Annual Sustainability Report and Integrated Annual Report.
-
Stay updated on evolving local regulations and international protocols (such as TCFD and ISSB) to ensure our reporting remains compliant and competitive.
3. Analysis & Strategic Insight
-
Transform raw data into actionable insights using advanced Excel modeling or business intelligence tools (PowerBI/Tableau).
-
Identify negative trends (e.g., spikes in energy usage at specific sites) and work with facility managers to investigate root causes.
-
Benchmark our ESG performance against industry peers in the ASEAN region to identify gaps and opportunities for leadership.
4. Process Optimization
-
Move the organization away from manual, decentralized spreadsheets toward a centralized database or automated ESG software solution.
-
Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for data owners in different departments (HR, Procurement, Operations) to streamline the submission process.
